Nov 3 Obidos, Portugal

After the Monastery we stopped at Obidos, a town on the way to Lisbon.  It is a picturesque town but it was raining off and on, sometimes raining heavily and we didn't walk around much.

The first image shows Beth, George and Ann in one of the commercial streets.

After I took that picture the rain became worse and I didn't get any other good pictures.

However, if you look just above Ann in the first picture you see a purple plant. There is a picture of this plant (I think its a wisteria vine) from MU-43.com who took it in 2014.

The third picture is from ricksteves.com and his website is here.  I don't remember this particular plant but there were a lot of other plants in bloom while we were there.

Finally, to get to this nice street we had to go through a city wall. The wall was an effort of King Denis in the early 14th century. There is an entrance to a opening in the wall and then you go into the street that is in the earlier images. The fourth image, from boomsbeat.com shows that opening.

This city has an impressive Castle and some other sights but given the weather and the fact we needed to get to Lisbon we didn't get to see them.
