Oct 29 - The Spanish Square of Seville

In Spanish, the Plaza de Espana, built in 1928 is an enchanting and amazing place.

It has various styles of architecture and art and some regionalism salutes and all kinds of other things.

The first image has Beth and George in front of one of the high points of what is a curving structure. Notice that the lower level on the left is done in the Moorish style of arches while the high building is in Italian Renaissance (emphasizing proportion and symmetry) style.

The second image shows George and various random people in front of one of the three story anchors of this complex.

The third image has Beth and George in front of either South or North tower (they are identical) of the Plaza building.

The 4th and 5th image show the open area of the Plaza which has a canal (with boats) and a fountain and a paved area where you can rent a horse drawn cart.

The sixth image shows a tribute to one of the provinces of Spain. There are many of these all around the plaza.

This one is for Barcelona and it shows a Columbus story of some kind.

The seventh image (from wikipedia) shows the way the regional images each have their own alcove.

The final image (also from wikipedia) shows the large scale view of the plaza.
